On 18th April 2019 at 6.30pm and right before the premiere of the new work, Elisabeth will lead a workshop around the inspirations behind this new work:

‘From textures and materials to movement’:

This workshop will offer the experience that is at the heart of Texture Body Texture: to inspire movements from the impulse of touch, textures and materials. There are many diverse textures and materials to be felt within our body, from skins, to bones, to flesh and organs. Are you aware of the intricate sensual experience of those? To start with, this workshop offers a somatic journey into the sense-experience of our individual bodies. As a second part, we will then introduce diverse haptic materials, such as fabrics of diverse sizes and textures. How do they make us feel? How do they make us move? Does our movement and physical or emotional response vary from one to the other? We hope these sessions will combine craft activities, object handling and play, to encourage manual dexterity, problem solving and social interaction.

6:30pm > 7:30pm – Grande Salle
From 14 years old, all levels
5 € – Registration required: inscription@cerclecite.lu

The premiere of the new piece  ‚FELT’ will take place on 18th April at Cercle Cité Luxembourg – followed by an international tour (dates to be published):

How are we influenced by the fabrics, materials and shapes that surround us? How do they touch us? How do we feel them?

A moving sculpture, a river of fabric, an abstract landscape or an amorphous creature: between installation and performance, between the inanimate and the animate, between geometry and phantasm, the interdisciplinary production FELT renders homage to the sense of touch. Skin and cloth, constantly transformed by bone and muscle, become themselves a texture of movement, creating spaces for the imagination.

On the day of the premiere there will be a workshop around the subjects of the work at 6.30pm as well as an introductory talk by the curator at 19.30pm.

‘I firmly believe that whatever initiates movement, this impulse is reflected in the presence of the dancer. Therefore it is interesting to think about the relationship between body, presence and artificial intelligence’. E.Schilling

Many thanks to the Junge Akademie der Akademie der Wissenschaften und der Literatur in Mainz for the initiation and organisation of the event. It was an enriching experience to share my passion for the art form of dance with academics from the fields of literature, robotics, neuroscience and Islamic studies and be inspired by the conversations before and after the event.
