Invited by Boston Dance Theatre, Elisabeth will offer an online Masterclass for everyone on 18th April 2020 over Zoom.

More information HERE.

Hello everyone,

In case you are bored or sad that so many (all of our contracts) in the coming weeks have been cancelled, I wanted to invite you to join a collective choreographic enquiry that I have been initiating to keep both yours as well as my and our audience’s spirits up :)

It’s called ’Shoe Dances in pandemic times’ and is that simple: take your favorite shoes, boogie a bit and send me the video. I am putting all those short clips together for all our happiness!  I am publishing the shoe dances through instagram / facebook as well as on a film through my website and it’s all anonymous.

Silly little idea which hopefully brings joy :)

-> Dogs, babies etc. all welcome!

Lots of love and stay healthy,

Elisabeth

Last week, Elisabeth was interviewed by Simone Stewart from The Barn Theatre in Aberdeenshire about her Shoe Dances and the development of this ongoing project.

Full interview can be found HERE.

As the corona virus continues to spread and the population lives and works in isolation, Elisabeth invited people via social media to create and film shoe dances with people’s favourite shoes to return them back to her.

Answers and films reached Elisabeth from all over the world, old and young, mobile and immobile, artist or not – here you can find the video of these dances – which are updated weekly!

Until further notice all public performances and residencies of Elisabeth Schilling are cancelled. We are using the free time to research and plan future tours and pieces.

We continue to dance – and we do it on Instagram! Follow @tanzelitanz to stay informed about artistic ideas and to become creative yourself, together with Elisabeth!

In response to the exhibition ‘Ingrid Godon. Ich wünschte’, which shows works by the artist Ingrid Godon and the lyricist Ton Tellegen, Elisabeth is working with young dance enthusiasts to create a choreographic work that will be shown to the public on 27 and 28 February as part of the exhibition at the Museum für Angewandte Kunst Frankfurt a.M..

‘With dancer and choreographer Elisabeth Schilling, the young people will get to know contemporary dance and translate images, texts, feelings and thoughts into movement. Step by step, they will feel the power of their own bodies and work together with a lot of creativity to create a choreography that can be performed in the museum rooms in the afternoon.’

‘One second it’s there…’

Movement, time, space and the art dance in galleries and museums

A response to the event by Emmie McLuskey.

Here you can find a record and response to a day of talks, provocations, lectures and performance work instigated and produced by Tim Nunn, Elisabeth Schilling and Simone Stewart on the occasion of Schilling’s performance of ‘FELT’ at Glasgow University’s Hunterian Gallery.

‘As with any event, it’s hard to relay or communicate an explanation or response to whole day of discussion, performance, participation and lectures in a written form.

In the programme for the day I was listed as the rapporteur, after googling what this meant ‘a person who is appointed by an organisation to report on the proceedings of its meetings,’ I tried to think what that might look like. Knowledge and the accumulation of it, is so often built into hierarchies, a written one being privileged over a v isual, a visual being privileged over a felt one etc. Documentation of performance practices posing endless problems and solutions. I wanted to attempt to record and pass on the information shared that day as best I could, a subjective perspective on what surfaced for me, my thoughts appearing throughout,
exploring formally how these knowledges intersect and depart from each other.’
