OUTREACH & AUDIENCE ENGAGEMENT

Driven by a deep passion for audience development and meaningful engagement, Elisabeth Schilling & Company have built an extensive programme of outreach activities in collaboration with over 120 national and international partners.

From youth dance creations and intergenerational community projects, to workshops for all ages, our senior and children’s home touring programme Mat Iech, cross-artform symposia, our carefully crafted post-show talk format Key Chain, and uniquely tailored publications — our work is rooted in empathy, creativity, and interdisciplinarity. At its core lies a deep desire to foster connection: between people, between art forms, between experiences and places.

In addition to her commissioned works, Elisabeth has developed dedicated audience development and engagement programmes in each theatre where she has been in artist in residence. At the heart of every creation lies a bespoke framing programme—a vibrant constellation of events and formats designed by Elisabeth herself to deepen connection and expand experience.

In the upcoming season, we are excited to finalise two such programmes: Botanical Beats at the Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg and Rise in Bloom at CAPE Ettelbruck.

Kay Chain Talk

Part of Elisabeth’s approach to engaging audiences in contemporary performance lies in her Key Chain method; a role-reversed post-show talk where the audience is given full authority to explore their own interpretation in a space where there can be no wrong answers. Elisabeth has developed this method as a guide to audiences to discover their own way into the work that takes place immediately after the performance. Key Chain encourages individual viewpoints and opinions on the work, and aims to trigger individual creativity and imagination when interpreting the performance. With the Key Chain method, Elisabeth is particularly eager to attract audiences who seldom or never see dance performances and hopes to inspire a new curiosity in dance. There is also a possibity to present the Key Chain method in German.

Workshops

For every performance, Elisabeth and team create a specifically designed workshop structure, which can be adapted for people of different experiences and ages. Often of an interdisciplinary nature, the workshops can be flexible in terms of location and length of time.
