Botanical Beats – Dance Films Teaser

Over the past months, Botanical Beats has gradually taken root — evolving into a unique interdisciplinary project at the intersection of nature, memory, and the performing arts.

At the heart of the project lies a simple yet powerful question:

What plants have shaped your life?

Through a series of storytelling workshops led by Ian De Toffoli and Elisabeth Schilling, personal plant stories were collected from individuals across Luxembourg City. These recollections — rich with emotion and significance — were transformed into poetic texts by De Toffoli, reflecting a deep sense of memory, connection, and belonging.

In May, these narratives found new life through movement. Seven talented Luxembourgish dancers were invited to interpret the stories through choreography, giving rise to a series of evocative dance films. From the delicacy of wild dandelions to the grandeur of ancient trees, these performances explore the intimate bond between humans and the natural world.

The result is a powerful collection of short films — moments of humanity, memory, and beauty, danced into existence.

We are delighted to announce that these films will be premiered as part of the Botanical Beats installation during the launch of Sensorial Symphonies, taking place from 27 September to 2 October at Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg.

This is a journey through movement, storytelling, and the rhythms of nature — and we invite you to be part of it.
